The Perfection Cure: A Blooper Reel

Hi lovely,

Do you ever struggle with perfection? As entrepreneurs it’s so easy to get bogged down by this unattainable goal. Perfection has been the biggest barrier for my success and it gets exhausting, right?!

Striving for perfection is actually a hidden recipe for procrastination, burnout, and pain.

If you find yourself waiting until your product/video/blog is PERFECT before you promote/sell/share, you gotta add this element to your work:

When you have fun, perfection no longer matters. Who wants to buy a product or coaching package from someone who is perfect, anyways?

When you add your personal playful touches to your brand, your followers will get to know you better and trust you more. As the experts say, consumers buy from people they know, like and trust. When you decide to be yourself and have fun in the process, you’ll naturally attract ideal clients into your sphere.

I have a personal and vulnerable example of choosing PLAY over PERFECTION.

Last week I upleveled big time by working with a videographer on a creative project for my new homepage. At times it totally sucked, not gonna lie. I couldn’t recite my script from start to finish and I felt pretty embarrassed. Yesterday my videographer sent me the blooper reel, and I want you to watch it.

Click on the image below and prepare for some big belly laughs. I’m not selling you anything. I’m simply showing you WHO I am: imperfect, silly, and ridiculous:

That’s me! Laughing at myself, kicking perfection to the curb.

How can you let go of perfection? How can you have fun with the creative process?

It’s called the “creative process” for a reason… Your products aren’t born out of your perfection, they’re created out of your authentic heart. Who you become in the process is what matters most.

Thanks for watching!

All my love,

Vlog: How to Be a Success + Powerful Game to Change Your Life

If you’re American, I hope you had a beautiful Fourth of July Weekend! This weekend I made my famous ribs up in the mountains, and brainstormed with my man about the next steps in my biz. We relaxed, hiked, and pondered and I’ve come back so refreshed and excited. That’s how vacation should be, right?

Throughout our business brainstorming session I caught myself asking the wrong questions which totally gave my power away. I hope this video can support you in asking the right questions so you can return to your precious purpose.. you know.. your special gift that the world so desperately needs.

Check out my Vlog: How to be successful NOW, by clicking on the image below!

You always have what it takes to be successful.  Everything you need is already inside of you. You don’t need to go looking at the “greats” to see how they did it. You can do it yourself, in your own unique way.

I have a game that I’d like to share with you that will support you in accessing your true greatness that already lives within you. It’s called Acting As If.

You see… when you act as if you’re already the success that you want to be… miracles begin to occur.

The Law of Attraction simply states that like attracts like. The more you create the vibration- the mental and emotional states- of already having something or being something, the faster you attract it to you.

This means thinking like, talking like, dressing like, acting like, and feeling like the person who has already achieved your goal. Successful people exude self-confidence! They know how to communicate what they want and what they don’t want, lovingly and clearly with no attachment to the outcome. They think anything is possible, take risks, and celebrate their successes.

As soon as you start acting as if you’re a success, you will start drawing to you the opportunities and people that will help you achieve your goals in real time.

Here’s a story…
Two weeks ago,
I had two of my long time clients over for a celebration dinner to complete their 6 month VIP business building program…But it wasn’t your typical dinner party.

I turned this dinner into a game. I invited them to come over acting and dressing like they were 5 years into their businesses, making more money than they ever dreamed of, living the life they always wanted. We had conversation as if we were 5 years older and wiser.

Check out the rocking self-confidence of these business women!

They showed up wearing the hottest dresses and heels with courage oozing our of their beings. Our conversations where so HIGH VIBE! They didn’t get stuck in stories of not being good enough, instead they were already good enough and had so much to teach their younger selves. I wish you could have heard their answers when I asked them what they wish they had known 5 years ago!

I invite you to start dressing, thinking, feeling, and acting as if you’ve already achieved your goal. What action can you take to catapult your success forward? Who can you get on your team? Who do you need to be in order to bring your vision to a reality?

I can’t wait to hear from you, so please comment below to let me know your thoughts!

Much love,

Empowered Woman’s Checklist To Get Out of the Funk

Have you ever had one of those… crappy days? Weeks? Where you can’t get out of the fog? Trust me, I’ve been there.

Earlier this week I stumbled upon an AWESOME checklist of what to do when you want to give up, and it inspired me to create a checklist for my community of empowered women!

Remember my blogpost, “How to Thrive When Things Suck?”

I’ve added to the list..

When you think you’ve hit rock bottom, ask yourself these questions. Rock top awaits 🙂

1. Have you let yourself cry it out in the past 24 hours? Like snot and tears flying everywhere for at least 2 minutes? Let your emotions move girl, they’re not meant to stay inside!

2. Have you meditated for at least 15 minutes today? If you can’t be with your feelings and truly watch them, your emotions are going to get the best of you and you’ll slip into some depression, anxiety, and even more worry than you started. Trying to change your feelings is like trying to put a fire out with a blow torch. Be with your feelings in stillness, from the witness perspective for 15 minutes and notice what opens up.

3. Have you gone outside today? Get into nature! Let the wind, sun, or rain touch your face. Dig your feet and hands into the dirt. When we’re spinning in anxiety and overwhelm, that means you aren’t grounded and connected to your body and the earth. Connect.. hug a tree. I’m serious.

4. Have you gotten a massage in the past week? When we’re out of whack emotionally it means our nervous system is confused, trying to process whether to fight or fly from the current stressful/scary scenario. In these moments of stress, we have to resource our bodies. Nothing is more healing than a massage in my opinion, so commit to some self-care and I dare you not to feel better. Massage isn’t your thing? Take a bath.. a hot shower.. rub your own skin with some coconut oil and return to your precious body. Your body carries so much wisdom! Your body holds the answers when our nervous mind can’t distinguish the truth from reality.

5. Have you helped anyone in the past week? Contribution really does end our suffering, it takes us out of our own negative self-talk and stories, and we remember that we’re simply here to love, and be loved. Loving, appreciating, or helping someone is such a beautiful way to return to your soul.

6. Notice if you’re going through an emotional, spiritual, or personal growth spurt. When we expand and grow, that means we’re making tremendous progress, but sometimes it hurts! Expansion requires contraction. It’s like giving birth. When you stop growing, you stop living.  Look at one of those stinky rivers in india, it’s stinky because it stopped moving and growing. The invitation is to be with your process even when it hurts like hell, and be thankful for your progress.

7. What are you wearing? If you’re still wearing your pajamas, take a shower and change your clothes. Put on something sexy and beautiful. Put on some lipstick and welcome your beautiful femininity back into your life.

8. Who do you need to forgive? Holding grudges is the sure-fire way to be unhappy. Write down all of your grudges on a piece of paper. Every. Single. One. Every resentment, all the unforgiveness that is still in your heart. Now I have an exercise for you. Pick up the piece of paper with all of your grudges, hold it with all of your might- squeeze it tight, and then— let it go. Watch your resentments fly to the ground. Notice how easy it is to let go. What would open up for you if you energetically and emotionally let go too? (There’s more to this process.. but this is a great start!)

9. Have you danced like a crazy person today? Oh yes, I said it. Put on some music and let your body move. This will bring blood flow to your brain and release tons of endorphins.

10. Be silly! On Monday I led a workshop in a banana costume…. I wasn’t in the greatest mood before this workshop, but committing to silliness always trumps the sadness and sometimes you have to fake it ’til you make it. My silliness created a ripple effect of joy, and everyone couldn’t help but smile and laugh and join in on the insanity 🙂

Don’t believe me? Yup.. that’s me leading a guided meditation as a banana.

11. What have you had to eat or drink today? You could very well be dehydrated, hungry, or in a funk due to too much sugar which always takes us out of presence. Drink a ton of water, eat some greens, and do this slowly and consciously, tasting your food with presence.

12.  Have you seen your coach or therapist in the past week? Since the first time I did a personal growth seminar, I’ve worked with a coach or therapist weekly. It’s not a weakness, it’s my secret weapon. Being seen, heard, and supported are three of the most important structures for actualizing your empowerment! When you’re held accountable in taking full responsibility for your life and happiness, you can heal and in the process you become a magnet for what you truly want.

If anything in this newsletter struck a chord with you and you want to see if empowerment coaching is right for you,  sign up for a discovery call with me so you can map out the changes that must happen in order for you to live with peace, fulfillment, and tons of JOY even in the face of heartache or stress. I really look forward to hearing from you!

All my love and light,

P.S. Comment below to let me know your own ideas for getting out of the funk!

Client Spotlight: Ilana Nankin of Breathe for Change

When a woman finds her unique and love-driven purpose, she becomes an unstoppable force of nature. My client, Ilana Nankin is the living and breathing example of what happens when a woman receives her purpose from the Universe with grace, power, and fearless rigor.

Ilana tells the story best… Check out her testimonial of our time together:

A year ago, I wanted to drop my Ph.D. program because I didn’t believe in myself as a writer, felt lost in my career, and disconnected from my community. With Chrissy’s support, I found my voice as a scholar, and created the dissertation project of my dreams which now serves as the foundation for my life’s work. Through our ongoing sessions, Chrissy helped me get extremely clear about what I wanted for myself and my life, and what was stopping me from pursuing this path. By embracing, rather than running away from my fears, I found my authentic voice and purpose as a leader, educator, and entrepreneur, and became an unstoppable force. I found my vision and designed my entire life around fulfilling it. Now I am the CEO and Founder of Breathe For Change, an organization that improves the health and well-being of students, teachers and communities through yoga and mindfulness. Breathe For Change’s mission is the exact vision I created for myself through my sessions with Chrissy: to change the world, one teacher at a time. Now, I am living and breathing that change. Today I have the inner strength to stand for others to breathe their change, just the way Chrissy did for me when I could not do so alone.
Are you blown away by this woman?? She didn’t let her fears stop her, instead she followed them like a torch out of the darkness and into the light. She could have quit her Ph.D. program and taken the easy way out, but instead she created a new possibility using her engine of creation: DESIRE.  Throughout our time together, she got crystal clear on her passions for yoga, children, education, social justice and community. She then combined those joys to create a dream business that empowers children and teachers alike to experience mindfulness and yoga in their everyday lives.

Her joy, not her stress, carried her throughout this business building process.

What makes Ilana such a successful superstar?

For one thing, she has mastered the art of asking for what she wants. Ilana has never- ever- let anyone stop her from achieving her dreams. If someone says no, she doesn’t take it personally or feel any sort of rejection- she moves on and asks more people for help.

She also takes action ferociously and avoids the dramas of procrastination and complaint. She doesn’t get flustered by the in betweens of business building, she simply takes action.

Even in the face of painful family circumstances, breakups, and emotional pain, Ilana kept fighting. She has the Queen’s mindset of no-excuses.

Her actions, big and small, lead to big wins! In the picture below, you’ll see the funding her team won to support the launch of her company!

What exactly is Breathe for Change?Breathe For Change provides educators with comprehensive and accessible yoga teacher trainings grounded in pedagogical practices that promote social justice and equity. Her company trains educators in powerful mind-body practices to create a more just and peaceful world.

Find her company Breathe for Change on Facebook or Twitter.  And if you’re feeling generous, you can donate to her program at Go Fund Me.

Major congrats to Ilana Nankin, the change-maker our world has been waiting for.

Women Coming Home

11400995_1665802660315520_7211309349626806613_nOver the weekend I led my favorite retreat, Celebration of Woman.

Every workshop is just that, a celebration. A celebration of every size, shape, race, sound, and age of the feminine. The full range of “woman” is accepted and realized in this space.

I want to say thank you for the sisterhood, the tears, the beauty, the fight, the trust, the laugher, the empowerment, the stillness, the dance, the light, and the love. I’m forever grateful.

I acknowledge every woman who showed up in the face of fear and uncertainty! You inspire me to be the best woman I can be. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

As I write this…I realize that I’m alone in my house because my partner is at his men’s group tonight. And you know what? As I thank every woman for showing up for her soul’s reckoning this past weekend- I can’t help but thank the other side of the human species. I want to say THANK YOU to every conscious man who shows up with love, presence, humility, and strength. Thank you for doing your own inner work…

As these women come home out of the cauldron of transformation, I hope and pray that they are received and seen with presence, deep listening, and trust. Thank you in advance for seeing us, accepting us, and supporting us on this crazy ass journey. We’re all in this together.

May all beings be happy and free,

Do Your Goals Need Some Help?

Hey Gorgeous!

Want to find your soulmate?
Want to move into your dream home?
Want to start a new career?
Want to build your own coaching business?

To be empowered in every area of your life, goal setting is a very important process and you have to be willing to see your goals through ’til the end. (With a zero excuses policy.)

This Empowered Woman’s Newsletter will teach you how to transform your fluffy, “good idea” goals into specific and measurable goals that are real, exciting, and attainable.

Check in with yourself and notice if you have any goals that you want to manifest for yourself in the next couple of months. Find your most important goal and write it down.

Notice if it’s a vague, “good idea” goal OR a specific and measurable goal.
Vague goals produce vague results. When there is no criteria for measurement, it is simply something you want, a wish, a preference or a good idea. To engage your subconscious mind, a goal or objective has to be measurable.

Vague Goal: I would like to own a nice home on the ocean.
Real Goal: I will own a 5,000-square-foot house on The Great Highway in San Francisco, California by 1 p.m. on May 18th, 2016.

See the difference?

Your turn.

Write out your REAL goal in detail. Imagine this being a request to the Universe. An order form to God. Include every detail possible because the Universe LOVES to be generous! She has to know what you want so She can deliver.

Your job now is to spend time every single morning, afternoon and night to visualize yourself living, breathing and experiencing this goal.

Wait a sec, I hear your skepticism. “You’re kidding me, right? I don’t have time for this visualization crap.” I’ve been there.

Don’t believe that this visualization will catapult your goals into realities? Some psychologists are now claiming that one hour of visualization is worth 7 hours of physical effort.

When you give your brain colorful, specific, and compelling pictures to manifest- it will find all the information necessary to bring that picture into reality for you. If you give your brain pictures of a relaxing vacation, an adoring soul mate, or a thriving coaching business, it will go to work achieving those goals.

But on the flipside- if you are constantly feeding it negative, fearful, and anxious pictures- guess what?-it will achieve those too.

So back to this visualization…Picture yourself living, breathing, and experiencing your goal with conviction and emotion.

How do you feel in your body? How do you feel emotionally? What are you wearing? Who is surrounding you? What does your schedule look like? How are you taking care of yourself? What does your schedule look like? Who have you hired to support you? What is possible?

I invite you to take this on like your life depends on it! I know this sounds corny, but if you can believe it, you can achieve it.

I’d love to hear your goal! Share it in the comments below. The more energy we put into your goals the better.

Much love,

P.S. I’m serious. Write your goal in the comments below.   If you need any support, I will personally give you feedback around how to make your goal more specific, measurable, and attainable. We’re all in this together.

Lessons From Paris

Hey gorgeous,

I’ve missed you!! Here’s an update on where I’ve been the past three weeks:11045490_1657309004498219_8996033528027799126_n

  • I traveled to Paris on my own and attended a conference with my business coach and received the most important coaching of my career… (more news to follow on that front!)
  • I celebrated my birthday.
  • I made BIG changes in my business.

Here are some lessons from my solo trip to Paris:

1. Human beings are meant to be of service! I learned this because I embarrassingly packed WAY too much for this trip and needed tons of help carrying my suitcase up and down the stairs of the metro. Complete strangers helped me without me even asking. Giving and receiving defines the flow of life. I was open to receiving their support, exchanged many smiles and “Merci’s” and the world became a little bit brighter.

2. When you surround yourself with powerful people, you become more powerful in the process. Jim Rohn says, “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”  I went to this business conference because I wanted to get in the room with hundreds of high caliber of women who are doing amazing things in their businesses. Just being there brought my vibration up a notch, but actually getting on the microphone and asking for support caused me to uplevel and transform my limited thinking into more powerful belief systems about my worth as a business owner.

3. Self-Care cures just about everything. I was so jet-lagged my second day in Paris, that I decided to spend half the day at a Spa. Not only was my jet-lag totally cured after this experience, but all my fears of being in a foreign country were released because my nervous system was eased and nourished. I left the spa confident, excited, massaged, soaked, and scrubbed.

4. Women operate in seasons. Sometimes we’re in a winter storm full of action and movement. Sometimes we’re in the valley, simmering and resting. Sometimes we’re pregnant with ideas, and then in the Spring we get to birth these concepts into reality. I’ve personally been in a valley this past month.. journaling, simmering, and brainstorming about the next level of my business and life. Every season requires action and support! I went to Paris (inside my valley season) and got the coaching I needed even though I was so scared to bring my truth to the mic. The support I received got me out of the valley and back into my purpose.

5. Have a ritual on your birthday. Being born is such a big deal… your egg was chosen to be fertilized, your mother labored and delivered you, and a new life was brought to the earth. You were born to be YOU, not anyone else.  I was on my own for my birthday this year, and I could have easily forgotten about it and pretended like it didn’t happen. Instead I made sure to take out my journal to celebrate all of my accomplishments from this past year, and examined patterns and habits that no longer served me. I surrendered those patterns to Spirt, asked for some miracles, and began journaling about everything I wanted to manifest this next year. With intention, love, and celebration, I turned 29 on my own in the city of lights. My attitude could have let this birthday suck (trust me.. I was close!!) but I returned to my true self and thanked Her for showing up regardless of the circumstance.

So let me ask you…
What habits and patterns no longer serve you?
What season are you in and where do you want to be?
How can you take better care of yourself?
Who are you spending your time with and are these relationships serving you?
Where do you want to be of better service? Are you receiving the service from others with grace?

Let me know in the comments below.

To your and your greatness,

Vlog #2: Be Spontaneous!

Hey gorgeous,

I have a confession. I broke my own rules and went out of town last night and didn’t return until this evening. This spontaneous decision went against my Monday routine, but I learned so much about myself and what women leaders truly need in the process.

I decided to shoot a quick video to share about my experience while returning home in Steve’s awesome Van! Hope you enjoy my camping hair!

Watch the video below:

Happy Monday!

All my love,

P.S. Do you have any routines you’d like to spice up with spontaneity and excitement? Fill me in by adding a comment below!

Video Blog: The Maiden

Screen Shot 2015-04-11 at 5.33.30 PMHi dear one,

Remember High School? What was that time like for you? Was it filled with anxiety? Excitement? Romance? Pressure? Did you get to celebrate your gifts as a growing woman? Did you feel safe to examine what it means to be a woman in the world?

For me, High School was both the best of times and the worst of times… On day one I signed a sacred contract with my soul to be popular and liked. That desire trumped my need to love myself first.

This past weekend I had the honor to return to my High School and speak at their first ever Women’s Symposium around what it means to be a woman leader in the 21st Century. (This is nothing short of a miracle considering my “goals” in High School.)

Being a teenager can be exhausting, scary, and confusing- or it can be rewarding, transformational, and exciting. I chose to do a talk around the power of the teenage girl through the archetype of the Maiden, a symbol I turn to every time I feel scared or embarrassed.

Check out my Vlog: The Maiden.

Every woman has a story. What was it like for you to be a maiden? As the empowered woman leader that you are, how can you support your maiden now?

I’d love to hear from you, so let me know in the comments below!

P.S. I’m officially a motivational speaker now! This talk was my first ever public speaking gig, and even though it was scary as hell, I’ve never felt more aligned with my purpose. How can you step outside your comfort zone this week to bring your unique gifts to the world?
